Obama Declares Disaster for Eight Upstate Counties

Hello Internet,

In response to the recent events caused by hurricane Irene, President Barack Obama has decided to release federal funds to help citizens of eight counties of Upstate NY. This funding “can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs”. By declaring this disaster, Obama has allocated extra federal funding to help us restore our communities to their previous state.

All people who have been affected by the hurricane and in need of assistance are encouraged to visit this website: or call: (800) 621-FEMA or (800) 462-7585 to apply for funding.
